Description :
The beauty queen rishop of Kalingpong district. This small hill village is located at a distance of 32 km from Kalingpong and 9 km from Lava. There is also a 4 km short trek route from Lava to Rishop. The word 'ree' means mountain peak and the word 'shop' means centuries old pine tree. The height of Rishop is about 8300 feet which is higher than Darjeeling. The maximum and minimum temperature here is 0 to 28 degrees. Swarga Rajya Rishop is a paradise to see not only Kanchenjunga but also various birds and flowers. The tribals here are mainly agricultural but the tourism industry has taken a lot of place in the current economic map.
Where to Stay :
Our homestay in Rishop is the bohemian Agantuk Sunrise Homestay. Five houses above the view point. Kanchenjunga is visible not only from every room but also from the dining room. Tourists come from the neighboring homestay and gather in front of our homestay to see various scenes including Kanchenjunga.
How to Reach :
You can directly come to our homestay by reserve car from the nearest railway station Siliguri or New Jalpaiguri. Also those who want to come by share car can reach Kalingpong by bus from Siliguri Junction (Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand) or take share jeep from Pani Tanki Mor. In both cases you have to reach Algara from Kalingpong again by share car. From there reshop in reserve car. And those who will leave from New Mall Junction will reach Lava by share car via Dumdim, Garubathan, from there reserve car.
Local Sightseeing :
Rishop is famous for Kanchenjunga range darshan. In a clear sky, one can see (or side) Mount Kharg, Mount Koktang, Mount Rathung, Mount Kabru, Mount Talung, Mount Pandim, Mount Kanchenjunga, Mount Simbho, Mount Norshing, Mount Siniolchu. Also visible are Nathula Pass, Juluk. ,laxative la. At night, the illuminated scene of Pedong, Renok and other small towns of Sikkim is truly worth seeing.
Expenses :
Rs. 4000 - 4500 (depending on season and vehicle type) by direct reserve car from New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri or Bagdogra and Rs. 3500 from New Mall Junction. Bus fare from Siliguri to Kalingpong is Rs. 130 per person, shared jeep is Rs. 200 per person. Fare from Kalingpong is Rs. 70 per person. Algara to reshop reserve car approximately Rs. 800-1200. Lava reserve car around Rs. 1000.
The cost of staying in our homestay is Rs. 1200 / 1500 / 1800 according to the room. And food cost Rs. 500 - 600 per person (subject to change according to the number of people and time)
Best Time to Visit :
The best time to visit here is from October to March. Many local and foreign tourists gather in January and February hoping to see snowfall.
