Description :
Daragaon is the new offbeat place in Kalingpong district. From here the beautiful confluence of Teesta river and Kanchenjunga can be seen. The takeoff and landing of Pakyong Airport in Gangtok can also be seen. This small village belonging to the Cinchona Plantation has attracted the attention of tourists in no time due to its unique natural beauty. Not too cold or too hot, pleasant weather can be enjoyed throughout the year, which is enjoyable for tourists of all ages. The natives here are mainly agriculturalists. At present many people are taking the tourism industry as a livelihood. The temperature here is roughly between 10 degrees to 31 degrees.
Where to Stay :
Here is our homestay bohemian newcomer Satish Homestay. This newly built homestay has three four-bed rooms. In every room you will get modern facilities including western toilet, geyser. From every room you can enjoy the unique view of Teesta and Kanchenjunga. In front of the homestay there is a well-kept garden and a campfire area.
How to Reach :
The distance from the nearest railway station New Jalpaiguri to Daragaon by road is about 90 km via Kalingpong. The nearest airport is about 82 km from Bagdogra. You can directly reach Daragaon by reserve vehicle. Also those who want to come by share car can reach Kalingpong by bus from Siliguri Junction (Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand) or take share jeep from Pani Tanki Mor. In both cases, you have to reach Algara by taking a share car from Kalingpong. From here you will reach Daragaon by reserve car. There are also three share buses from Kalingpong Stand to Mansang which pass in front of Daragaon Homestay. But there is no fixed time to leave the car from this stand, as a result there may be some delay in reaching your destination.
Local Sightseeing :
From here you can see the Himalaya View Point (Titanic View Point) on foot and drive to Jalsa Bungalow, Ramdhura View Point, Delo Park, Science Museum, Buddha Park, Hanuman Top, Graham's Home, Morgan House, Golf Course, Durpin Dara Monastery and Orchid nursery.
Expenses :
Rs. 3500-4500 (depending on the season and type of vehicle) by direct reserve vehicle from New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri or Bagdogra and bus fare from Siliguri to Kalingpong is Rs. 130 per person, share jeep Rs. 200 per person. Fare from Kalingpong is Rs. 70 per person. Reserve car from Algara to Daragaon is about Rs. 500-700.
The cost of staying and eating at our homestay is Rs. 1000 to 1200 per person (subject to change according to the number of people and time).
